Indicator 17
Demonstrate the ability to communicate (orally and in writing) the meaning of reading assessment data with students, caregivers, teachers, and teacher leaders.
During my Reading Internship, I had to do a Basic Reading Inventory on a student who currently recieves Tier 3 instruction. I chose Student 4, who is in the middle of trying to get special services as he shows characteristics of dyslexia. We had to build off the BRI components we completed by creating two reports (visual and written) about this student's learning profile. We had to summarize his background, all his reading data, how he compares to his peers, and what supports/instruction we would create to support his strengths and areas of needs. The visual report's purpose was to create a digestible display of his data and unique needs to show stakeholders and other individuals who have the right/responsibility to support him. It has a simplistic overview of his data, what it means, and what he requires to be successful.
