FEAP 1B

The current unit students are on is on multiplication. I am starting the unit off with having students learn and master the strategies for multiplication. We are starting with arrays, then next week we will do equal groups and then repeated addition. We will then take a quiz on the strategies and move onto solving multiplication without being instructed on which startegy to use. My goal is for students to be proficient at the startegies. So, while they are learning their multiplication facts, they have tools to use if and when they get stuck. While learning arrays,  I explicitly taught them how to convert arrays into multiplication and multiplication into arrays. Once they showed some proficient, pre-taught how to use them to solve division. These are some student samples of them modeling and solving with arrays.
