FEAP 3E

Relate and integrate the subject matter with other disciplines and life experiences

During the lessons, students read about different plant classifications and discussed the defining characteristics used to distinguish between groups. They then applied this knowledge by examining real plants and identifying their characteristics. This hands-on experience allowed students to make connections between the information they read and the physical features they could observe. It also encouraged them to use scientific vocabulary and explain their reasoning when determining how a plant should be classified.

To conclude the lessons, I took students on a walk around the school grounds, where they observed the plants growing in their immediate environment. During the walk, students identified different plants, examined their visible parts, and discussed the characteristics they had learned about in class. This activity allowed students to make meaningful connections between science instruction and the natural world.
