FEAP 2D
Respects students’ cultural linguistic and family background

About one quarter of this class are ELLs. The home languages spoken are Spanish and Portuguese. Students cultural background is respected in many ways. One way is families recieve important information about their children translated into their native langauge. My mentor teacher uses Thrillshare which allows for translated messages between the uploader and families. Any important information sent home in letters are automatically translated for ELLs and their families. Students are also allowed to communicate with one another in their native language. Many of the ELLs are seated by other ELLs. Students recieve accomodations such as oral presentation during testing. I have also taken personal interest in student's home langauge by learning some words and expressing interest in the culture during conversations.
